Starlink installation at Runcorn

Method of Starlink installation fittings explained

Starlink installation done today at Runcorn, Cheshire. Here we have mounted the Starlink dish or for the more technically minded the phased array antenna. We have used a heavy-duty 12×12 galvanized bracket, a thick steel mast and a Shelley clamp. There are many ways to safely and securely mount your equipment. So, why this method you may be wondering? The customer had ordered a Starlink long arm bracket. Unfortunately, as much as it would’ve stood far enough off the wall, it wouldn’t have elevated the dish above the roof line. Please bear in mind that Starlinks own brackets are made for homes built to US building standards and not UK. So, using a heavy-duty bracket allows us to use four fixing bolts. This gives us a very secure fitting to the property. The thick steel mast gives us a very strong mounting position for the dish. The shelley clamp gives us a more secure fitting than Starlinks own version.

Previous speeds and Starlink speeds

The customer was not happy with BT’s speeds of 32Mb download and 6Mb upload. He had tried to get virgin to install a line to his property but after 7 months of getting nowhere he gave up. The customer tried the dish on arrival using the ground mount provided. He was amazed it hit 117Mb within seconds, he then turned it off as we arrived. After we installed the dish higher up on the property, he performed another test. He was greeted to 194Mb within seconds. So, for those who may now be wondering, yes it does help having the dish higher.
